Ilan Tal, who was the student of Menachem Zaharoni and continued his work, established the botanical garden on the boulevard in 2006, in memory of his late daughter, Iris. The garden’s design was inspired by the educational botanical garden built by Menachem Zaharoni in the school’s yard in the early forties.

The purpose of the garden is to preserve the wild flora of the land of Israel and save species from extinction. There are over 1,000 species of wild flora from all over the country and from neighboring countries growing in the garden, and approximately 400 of them are rare species. Due to its special nature and importance, the garden may only be visited by prior reservation.
